Apostolic Work Society
The Apostolic Work Society was founded in 1923 by a group of women in St. Mary's Hall, Bank Street, Belfast; since then it has spread throughout Ireland. Our branch was established on 1926, The aim for the society is to help missionaries in all the Third World Countries, Africa, Asia and South America. Hundreds of letters asking for help arrive at Headquarters every year; likewise hundreds of very grateful letters arrive from nuns and priests who receive help. This help is sent out through HQ in Belfast , in money and goods to help in the running of feeding programmes, well-digging projects, hospitals, schools and parish work.
Here in the Parish we have a very enthusiastic group who enjoy meeting and organising various social functions to raise money for those in need on the missions. Concerts, wine and cheese evenings, table quizs, and swishing parties are just some of the events we have held. Whatever your talents we can make use of them. So why not come along?
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8.00pm in the Parish Centre. You will be most welcome.
Thank you very much for your generous help in the past and we look forward to your continued support in the future.
Anyone interested in joining our group please contact Mary McGrath on 028 9447 2637 or anyone you may already know in the Society.
